Places to Visit in PuriPuri
, a religious place and a great Indian tourist spot is situated in the state of Orissa. Puri is mainly famous for the popular Rath Yatra which is held during the month of June-Juny and it is at this time of the year when Puri attracts around 80 percentage of its total tourist throughout the year. Apart from Rath Yatra, there are other very great reasons which make Puri a place worth paying a visit. Let us see some of them.

Jagannath Temple: This is the most popular tourist attraction spot in Puri and this is perhaps the first place which any tourist visit when visiting Puri. This is one of the famous four Holy Dhams as mentioned by the Hindu ethics. The temple is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, which literally means the ruler of the universe. The temple can be dated back to 12th century A.D and with 65 metres of height, it perhaps falls in the category of the tallest temples in India. The architecture proves the advancements in the ancient Kalinga style of architecture. Other important temples include Nata Mandir and the Bhoga Mandir which can be dated back to 14-15th century and depicts the Orissa style of architecture.

Gundicha Ghar: Also commonly referred to as Gundicha temple it is dedicated to the Gundicha, the aunt of Lord Jagannath. This place is also considered very sacred and also a popular tourist attraction site. It is said that during the famous Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath, stays with his aunt here for approximately 9 days. Because of this reason, during the Rath Yatra, a wooden chariot is constructed with deities of Jagannath, Balaram (His Brother) and Subhadra (His sister) and is pulled from Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Ghar.

Puri Beach: Beaches have always tourists from all over the places and Puri beach is perhaps the only beach left in eastern India which is walk able. You can also go for a boat ride on the sea and is a nice place for paying a visit.
