Vadodara is in western India and it lies in the banks of River Vishwanitri in Gujarat. The city has a unique culture and architectural infrastructure that attracts many locals and tourists alike.
The city has many museums that store the country and the city’s own rich history and culture. The Baroda Museum & Gallery is one of the famous museums in the country which was built in 1894. The gallery has the original collection of British painter, Turner, which attracts tourists from all over the world. It also has an Egyptian mummy and skeleton of a blue whale as well as other treasure like the Akota bronze from the 5th Century A.D.
The residence of Maharshi Aurobindo Ghosh, a private secretary, is one of the place you might want to visit when in Vadodara. It was made into a museum of the late secretary’s life and contribution to the country. Yoga sessions are taught in the garden for one to experience solitude.
There are many other temples scattered all over the city. The Shiva temple in Fatehgunj is maintained by the “Jawans” of E.M.E. and is made of aluminum and alloys that would look very attractive when illuminated at night.
The city is filled with a lot of infrastructures with architectural designs that preserves the culture of the country and the history of the city. Among these infrastructures are Kirti Mandir which is made of marble walls, Champaner located in Pavagarh has Mahmud Beghada’s Wall, Lehripura Gate built in 1558 with beautiful arches, Laxmi Vilas Palace where the royal family resides until now with floors that have mosaic decorations and houses old treasure armors and sculpture, Makarpura Palace which is now used as a school for the Air Force , Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Gruh is the city’s city hall, Maharaja Fatehsinh Museum houses royal collections from Raphael, Titian.
There also other tourist spots known by the public for its rich architectural design like Maharaja Sayajirao University, Mandvi Gate, Maqbara, Nazarbaug Palace, Nazarbaug Palace, Pratap Vilas Palace at Lalbaug, Sayajibaug and Sayaji Sarovar.
