The Viceregal Lodge and Botanical Gardens also called “Rashtrapati Niwas” was a former residence of the British Viceroy Lord Dufferin. It is a six storey building with a maintained garden and lawn.
The Indian Institute of Advanced Studies located in Viceregal Lodge and was constructed in 1888. The building uses the English Renaissance architecture with the walls made up of light blue limestone and most stonework are done using sandstone with light gray shade.
The Ridge is an open place located in the heart of the town and has a magnificent view of the mountain. The Neo-Gothic structure of Christ Church and the new Tudor Library building are the two main landmarks of Shimla.
Shimla has The Mall where shops, restaurants, clubs, bar, banks, Post Offices, tourist offices can be located. The place gives a romantic feel during the night giving a beautiful view of the city. The Mall is the most significant attraction in the town.
Summer Hill is a scenic destination near Shimla and visited mostly by tourists. Mathama Gandhi, the Indian leader, during his sojourn spent his time here in the Georgian House of Raj Kumari Amrit Kaur.
Glen is a picnic spot and is a 4 kilometer walking the woods with a height of 1,830 meters. The place offers tranquility and peace.
The Tara Devi Temple is a temple that is important for pilgrims. It is located on the hill facing Shimla. It is a great place for picnic because of the thick forest of oaks and rhododendron.
