Shillong in Northeast India, capital of Meghalaya, is a meadow with a changing climate from windy to rainy. The hills of Shillong are usually compared with Scotland. The hills are connected by a long road between hills and elevation through Guwahatim Silchar and Garo Hills. Umroi is the nearest airport 30 kilometers from Shillong.
Only cars and the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) bus can take you to the hill station from Guwahati. The 4 hour travel give you a breathtaking view, especially when it is raining, as you will see trees and lakes like Barapani as you travel by land.
The Shillong Peak is the highest place in Shillong. The peak is 1965 meters above sea level so you can see the stunning view of the city.

Ward’s lake is covered with flowers, plants and trees that can take your breath away as they are give color to the place and boating can be enjoyed here. The Botanical Garden nearby has various plants. Lady Hidari Park has a mini zoo that entertains the whole family once there.
There are waterfalls in all over Shillong; this includes Bishop and Beadon falls, Elephanta Falls, Spread Eagle Falls, and Sweet Falls. Shillong also has caves that give way from one end to another that challenges and excites tourists.
Shillong has the biggest natural Golf course in Asia that has unique greenery that cannot be found elsewhere. Peace and tranquility can be experience in the place.
Once in the city, Police Bazar is the heart of the city where the hotels are located. The market is located here as well where you can buy local goods, souvenirs and many more.
The residents are called Khasis and it is mainly composed of females. These women sell things in the market at night. Durga Puja is celebrated every Christmas.
Tourists go to Delhi, Mumbai or Kalkata to reach Guwahati by air, that will cost 8000 Rupees for a one way ticket. Traveling by land will cost up to 1200 Rupees. You can also take a India Tour Deal from MTDC to visit all of Shillong. But you can also go there with your own free flowing activities planed.
