Naini Lake: Naini Lake, also known as Tririshi Lake, is the nucleus of mesmerizing Nainital. It is a pear-shaped fresh water lake that is famous as Jheel among local people. The lake is set amidst seven picturesque mountains and is believed as the place where eye of sati Parvati fell according to a popular folklore.
Naina Devi Temple: Located on the Shores of Naini Lake, the temple is dedicated to Maa Naina Devi, who is represented by two Netras (eyes). The temple was fully destroyed during a landslide and was rebuilt.
St. John’s Church: Founded in 1844, the Church is one of the important tourist spots and is one of the oldest structures in Nainital. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint John and also has a brass memorial of people who were buried in infamous Nainital landslide.
Astronomical Observatory: Situated near Hanuman Garh, this astronomical observatory is open for public visits with permissions and on fixed timings. It has a variety of binoculars and telescope to aid the clear view of sky and celestial objects.
