Chattisgarh mainly comprises of a number of plateaus marked with high Satpura ranges of North, the Bastar plateau of South and river Mahanadi of central plains with its tributaries.this state presents diverse geographical features which make it more beautiful. Chattisgarh is named so due to the presence of 36 garhs or forts in the region. The state provides evidences which supports and shows the cultural values of people of that period. Various places that attract tourists to this state are as follows.
Raipur
Famous towns like Durg , Rajnandgaon, Bhilai ,Jagadalpur ,Bhopal,Jabalpur and Bilaspur are interlinked with Raipur via road. In addition to this, Puri in Orissa and Hirakud dam close to Sambalpur can also be visited. Other attractions are Kanha National Park and Bhoramdeo for which road path is available.
Bastar
Bastar , also known as the land of tribals and natural resources is supplemented with rich natural magnificence which is appreciated by all the people visiting this place. The deep forest between the bamboos and bushes offering shade ,extensive and dense forests , beautiful streams flowing in between the high mountains, sky-scraping mountains , elevated waterfalls , caves and extended greenery in the valleys makes one’s heart filled with pleasure. In addition to this , one can also see the huts made of bamboo sticks, the unafraid life and traditions of the ethnic groups present there .
Champaran
Champaran also known as Champajhar is identified for Champaranya that happens to be saint vallabhacharya’s birth place who was a reformer and founder of vallabh sect and it is for this reason that this place is recognized for religious purity. To honor this famous personality, a temple was also constructed.A temple devoted to champakeshwara mahadeva is also present beside this temple.
Apart from the above mentioned places, an annual fair which is organized to mark the Birth Anniversary of Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya is held in the month of Magh(January-February)is also worth visiting. Chattisgarh or the state with 36 forts consists of many other ancient places of historical value which can be visited at any time of the year.
