It is a very peace loving city and is considered to be the most sacred of all the India pilgrimage places. The city was named “Allahabad” and founded by Emperor Akbar in the year 1575. Sangam: It is also popularly known as the “Triveny sangam” by the people of locality. The reason is that it is the meeting point of three sacred rivers of India, the Ganges, the Yamuna and the Saraswati. The meeting of the three rivers can be clearly visualized in this place. It is also believed, according to Hindu Mythology, when the churning of the ocean was taken place, few drops of eternal “Amrit” fell in this spot making the water really magical. The famous Kumbh mela and the Ardh Kumbh Mela is celebrated in tgis place itself.

Allahabad Fort: Once again this fort is yet another contribution of Emperor Akbar to the India. Situated on the banks of Yamuna and constructed in 1583, it still remains unique in its construction pattern and the architectural skills.

Patalpuri Temple: “Patalpuri” literally means the underground city. This is situated within the Allahabad fort and also contains the Akshayavat, which is considered immortal by Hindu Mythology. Asoka Pillar: This is one of the older constructions you can find in India. It dates back to 232 B.C. It is made of polished sandstone and is nearly 10.6 meters tall. Built by ruler Ashoka, it has been edicted by several rulers. Even there are Persian inscriptions in the pillar which was done by Mughal Emperor Jehangir.
